Agent confirms Reds want defender

Liverpool are in talks with AS Monaco centre-back, Aymen Abdennour, according to his agent.

The Tunisian defender is expected to leave Monaco this summer after being told by the club he can leave if he wants too, and several European clubs have already been tracking him.

It’s believed Inter Milan and FC Barcelona are just two of the clubs interested in signing the 25-year-old, and according to his agent, talks are being held.

Abdelkader Jilani, the defender’s agent, has confirmed that four clubs have already held talks about the availability of the centre-back, with Liverpool being one of them.

Agent Confirms Talks

Jilani told Foot Mercato: “There are clubs who have approached us and who will enter into contact with Monaco.

“There is AC Milan, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Liverpool.

“Juventus, they’ve already seen Monaco.

“I don’t think that Monaco will prevent Abdennour from leaving.”

Short Stay

Abdennour has only been with Monaco for a season, after joining from Ligue 1 rivals Toulouse, but with the club expected to sell several first-team stars over the summer, the centre-back could be one on his way.

The 25-year-old has gone on to make 18 league appearances for Monaco.

Despite signing a new four-year deal at the club last July, Abdennour is willing to leave the club if an offer comes in and if the French side choose to sell.
