Liverpool are interested in signing Iker Casillas

Jurgen Klopp wants to put pressure on his current goalkeepers

Liverpool are in the market for a goalkeeper this summer. Klopp recently gave chance to Loris Karius to establish himself as team’s first choice goalkeeper and have Simon Mignolet as back up. But he is still looking for a quality goalkeeper to become club’s first choice goalkeeper.

It was thought that Liverpool were chasing Roma’s highly rated goalkeeper Alisson but has turned attention elsewhere after Serie A side asked £70 million for the Brazilian.

Liverpool have now turned their attention to former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas. The Reds are interested in signing legendary Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas on a free transfer this summer, according to Sport .

The 36 year old is currently playing for Porto. His contract will expire in the summer and expected to leave the club on a free transfer. In Casillas, Liverpool will not only be getting a player on a free transfer but also a quality goalkeeper, who is considered legend for Real Madrid and Spain National team.

BetStars director of trading Ian Marmion said: “Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas will be a free agent this summer and despite the experienced shot-stopper nearing the twilight of his illustrious career, a number of clubs are still interested in snapping up the services of the five-time La Liga winner.

“Liverpool are in desperate need of bolstering their options between the sticks this summer and the Reds have turned their attention towards the World Cup winner as an alternative to Real Madrid target Alisson.

“Jurgen Klopp’s team are the clear favourites at 2/1 to become the 36-year-old’s next landing spot.”

Liverpool recently met with Porto in the round of 16 in Champions League and Casillas was given standing ovation by Anfield crowd.
