Liverpool will battle it out with Atletico Madrid to try and sign Ezequiel Lavezzi. According to the Spanish newspaper AS, Madrid boss Diego Simeone hasn’t given up on trying to sign the winger and he is planning a fresh bid when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Lavezzi has been linked with a move away from Paris, due to the fact he is struggling to break into the first-team and he is having to make do with brief cameos in games after coming off the bench. Reports are claiming that Laurent Blanc doesn’t want the 29-year old to leave PSG and that he will offer him a contract extension. However, because of his lack of game time and the manager’s clear preference of Ibrahimovic and Cavni over him, it will need to be a significant offer.
If either team could capture the signature of the Argentina international it would be quite a coup for them. However, for now we’ll have to wait until January to see if either team can pull off a move for him.
