Shoulder injury less serious than first feared

Liverpool’s Sadio Mane has suffered a shoulder injury that is expected to only keep him out of the team’s trip to Burnley this weekend.

The ÂŁ30million summer signing was hurt during training at Melwood on Wednesday after colliding with a team-mate.

With Mane suffering serious discomfort, he was sent to the Spire Liverpool Hospital with club medical staff to establish the extent of the damage. After an anxious wait, scan results revealed only a muscle injury and no dislocation of the shoulder.

It’s a huge relief to boss Jurgen Klopp given that a dislocation could have left Mane facing around three months on the sidelines.

The Senegal international, who later drove out of Melwood with his left arm in a sling, will be monitored closely over the coming days.

He’ll miss the trip to Burnley but should be back fit for Liverpool’s fixture against Tottenham on August 27th.
