Premier League trio Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are all monitoring Benfica starlet Joao Cancelo as they all look to add improvements to their side ahead of next season.

With the Premier League ending this weekend, all eyes are now turning to the World Cup in Brazil, and also the Summer transfer market where a lot of action is expected to take place, especially within the big clubs in England.

Title-winners City are keen to add to their already strong squad, while both Liverpool and Chelsea are keen to go better next year and win the league themselves after narrowly missing out this time around.

An area where all three teams want to improve is the defence, and Benfica youngster Cancelo has caught the eye after making his first full debut for the Portuguese side against Jose Mourinho’s old-side FC Porto.

The 19-year-old has been impressive for Benfica’s reserves, but he has recently made a step-up into the first-team and after some impressive performances, he is already attracting attention.

The defender can play both right-back and left-back, which is an area where Chelsea and Liverpool really want to strengthen, especially with previous target Luke Shaw set to make a move to rivals Manchester United.

Liverpool have also been linked with signing Chelsea’s Ashley Cole, while The Blues and City have been strongly linked with Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna.
