Hungarian Adam Bogdan is set for a move to Anfield

Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Adam Bogdan is set for a move to Liverpool, according to reports.

The 27-year-old has stalled on a new contract with the Championship side, and now looks set to move onto pastures new on a free-transfer.

And Liverpool are keen to get the deal done, with Brendan Rodgers hoping that the internationally capped stopper will provide cover for current first choice, Simon Mignolet.

Adam in-demand

Several Bundesliga sides had previously expressed an interest in Bogdan, who featured sporadically for the club last season, due to a reoccurring injury.

But it appears that Liverpool will win the race to sign him, with the keeper recently expressing his desire to play at the very top.

He told Nemzeti Sport: “I am confident that soon will decide my fate.

“My goal is to play at a higher level, but it also depends on where you get a chance.”

Bogdan, who broke into the first-team in the Trotters final Premier League season in 2011/12, replacing veteran keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen, first caught the eye of Liverpool in an FA Cup tie, keeping a clean-sheet in a 0-0 stalemate at Anfield in January.

Should Bogdan depart Bolton, it leaves manager Neil Lennon without a senior goalkeeper on the books, following the release of Andrew Lonergan on a free-transfer.

“We would like him here next season,” That would be a very good start to our rebuilding process.” stated Lennon.
