Lucas Leiva for Jeremy Menez is on the cards

Liverpool and AC Milan are on the brink of completing a player-swap deal with Lucas Leiva going one way and Jeremy Menez going in the opposite direction.

Both players are deemed surplus to requirements at their respective clubs and they could both be on the move in the New Year.

Milan have been interested in Lucas since January, as have other Serie A sides, but the San Siro outfit are in pole position to land the Brazilian with Liverpool keen on signing Menez.

Negotiations Underway

The Reds were keen on signing Menez over the summer, but nothing materialised from their reported interest, however, the two clubs are now at an advanced stage of the negotiations and it could be a done deal for the January window.

Lucas has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield, as has Menez at the San Siro, and a move in the opposite directions could be positive for both players.

The midfielder admitted last week that he was close to leaving Liverpool a number of times due to the lack of first-team football, but it looks like he could finally be on his way.
