Liverpool are growing confident of their chances of signing Malaga goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa, after he had a stand-out World Cup for his country, Mexico.

The 29-year-old was one of the stand-out performers from Brazil, and was wanted by both Liverpool and Arsenal over the Summer, but neither clubs made formal moves for him and he ended up in La Liga with Malaga.

However, after a sloppy start to the new season, Simon Mignolet is under-fire at Anfield and it’s believed that Brendan Rodgers has finally had enough of him and wants to replace him as the club’s number-one.

Victor Valdes was the number-one target for Rodgers as he’s a free-agent, but that deal looks like it’s cooled down, and the manager now wants to wait until January to try and sign Ochoa for around ÂŁ5million.
