Liverpool could be in line to re-sign former defender Alvaro Arbeloa, and could be available for just £3.5 million this summer.

Arbeloa enjoyed a successful two year spell at Anfield since joining in 2007 before leaving for Real Madrid in 2009. Six years later the defender could be in line to return to the Reds.

With Madrid interested in Porto’s Danilo, as well as having Dani Carvajal amongst their options, Arbeloa’s first team chances next season are expected to be limited.

However, Arbeloa’s former boss Rafa Benitez, now manager at Napoli, is also rumoured to be interested in coaching the player again by taking him to Serie A.

The Spanish international is vastly experienced and would no doubt jump at the chance to rejoin his former team. At £3.5 million Arbeloa would represent good value for money should the transfer go through.
