FC Barcelona right-back set for Juventus move

Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers have been dealt a massive transfer blow after FC Barcelona right-back Martin Montoya edged closer to a move to Juventus.

The defender has been strongly linked with a move away from the Nou Camp over the Summer, and was widely tipped to join Liverpool with the Premier League side in the market for a new right-back after Glen Johnson‘s departure.

Montoya Wants UCL Football

However, according to reports, Montoya is only interested in moving to a club in next year’s Champions League, something Liverpool will not be in after finishing sixth in the Premier League this season.

Montoya has been linked with Liverpool for the past two seasons, and the move was expected to take place this Summer, especially after Dani Alves signed a new two-year deal at Nou Camp and after they signed Aleix Vidal from Sevilla.

Juventus Favourites

According to reports in Italy, Juventus are closing in on a deal for Montoya and are set to beat both Liverpool and Serie A rivals Inter Milan.

The right-back has three years left on his contract in Spain, but after only make 12 appearances this season, it’s believed he will be put up for sale over the Summer.
