Liverpool Rejects Nottingham Forest’s Cash-Plus-Player Offer for Caoimhin Kelleher

Liverpool has firmly turned down Nottingham Forest’s recent bid for Caoimhin Kelleher, a move that included both a cash sum and Matt Turner in exchange for the Republic of Ireland international.

The offer fell significantly short of Liverpool’s valuation, which stands between £25 million and £30 million.

In a summer already marked by significant changes, Liverpool’s decision to reject this bid underscores their commitment to Kelleher, despite having bolstered their goalkeeping options with Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The Georgian goalkeeper, signed to eventually replace Alisson, remains on loan at Valencia for the current season.

Kelleher, who has been a dependable presence for Liverpool in cup competitions and occasional Premier League matches, has seen his role increasingly overshadowed by Mamardashvili’s arrival.

While Kelleher’s contribution last season was notable—making 26 appearances across all competitions—his desire for more regular first-team football is well-documented.

His current contract has two years left, and his status as Ireland’s number one indicates his ambition to play more consistently at a high level.

Nottingham Forest’s offer, which included cash plus US international goalkeeper Matt Turner, failed to meet Liverpool’s expectations.

Turner’s inclusion was not enough to sway Liverpool, who clearly value Kelleher highly. The club’s valuation reflects their belief in Kelleher’s potential and his importance to their squad.

Liverpool’s summer transfer activity has been focused largely on reshuffling the squad. While they have brought in notable names like Italian forward Federico Chiesa, the departures of key players like Thiago and Joel Matip, along with promising youngsters Fabio Carvalho, Bobby Clark, and Sepp van den Berg, have marked a period of transition.

As Liverpool navigates this period of evolution, Kelleher’s future remains a topic of interest.

For now, it appears the Reds are not ready to part ways with the talented Irishman, reaffirming their belief in his role within their future plans.
