Martin Skrtel will not leave Liverpool
Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtel has silenced reports saying he will leave the club at the end of the season.
The 30-year-old has been heavily linked with a European move away to Serie A side Napoli and most recently Bundelsiga side Wolfsburg.
Skrtel’s contract is only due to expire in 2016 but the Reds have made an offer for him to stay at Anfield for the coming seasons.
Skrtel said: “I am not leaving anywhere. Not to Wolfsburg nor to Naples.”
The captain of the Slovakian national team has been with the Reds since 2008 and is a regular starter in Brendan Rodgers’ side.
His agent, Karol Csonto stated that the Wolfsburg had not made an approach.
Csonto said: “The only offer which is lying on Martin Skrtel’s table right now is the extension of his contract from Liverpool.
“We have been working on the details, and we will be finalising it soon.
“It is not true that he has some offer from the German club. I don’t know anything even about their interest.” he added.
