Premier League side Liverpool may renew their interest in Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand after the news that Jose Enrique will be out until late February.

A serious knee injury has kept Enrique sidelined for most of the season, and after having surgery, it is likely that the Spaniard will miss a further three months, which leaves Brendan Rodgers short on options at the back, especially in the left-back region.

Rodgers does have Aly Cissokho who he loaned from Lyon, but it is thought that he wants to renew his interest in English full-back, Bertrand, who is current understudy to Ashley Cole and now Cesar Azpilicueta.

Liverpool did make an initial enquiry back in July for the 24-year-old, but they were told he is not for sale as the player himself wanted to fight for a first-team place at Stamford Bridge.

However, several months down the line, Bertrand still hasn’t found a way into the first-team picture and a move to Anfield could persuade him to leave The Blues.

This would be the third Chelsea player Liverpool have signed in recent months, after they secured Daniel Sturridge in January and Victor Moses on loan in the Summer, but it is believed that they may have to spend up to ÂŁ8million for Bertrand as he has recently signed a contract extension at his current club.
