Manchester City striker has failed to impress at the Etihad Stadium

Liverpool are keen on signing Manchester City flop Stevan Jovetic, but want to sign him on a cut-price deal after his failed stint at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City Struggles

The 25-year-old is expected to leave City at the end of the season after falling further down the pecking order since January. City splashed ÂŁ28million on signing Wilfried Bony from Swansea City halfway through the campaign, pushing Jovetic down to fourth-choice.

The Montenegro international is behind Sergio Aguero, Bony and Edin Dzeko at the Etihad Stadium, and to free up some wage and funds, City are looking to sell the striker this Summer.

Since completing his ÂŁ22million move from Serie A side Fiorentina, Jovetic has only managed eight goals for City, summing up his failed two years at the club.

With drastic changes expected at City this Summer, Jovetic is one of many expected to leave the club, and it’s Liverpool that are reportedly keen on signing the striker.

Liverpool’s Striker Issues

The Reds have striking problems of their own with Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini all failing to impress this season and all expected to leave this Summer.

Brendan Rodgers is ready to sell several first-team players at the end of the season, and is keen on signing Jovetic from City and would be prepared to pay ÂŁ12m, which is ÂŁ10m less than what City paid for him.

Liverpool don’t believe Jovetic has improved since moving to England and with just 11 goals to his name in all competitions over the two years he’s been in the Premier League, Rodgers isn’t prepared to offer big money.

So far this season, the Montenegro international has only started 14 games, but since Bony’s arrival, he’s barely been on the substitute bench, sparking speculation regarding his future.
