Liverpool eye Eto’o deal

Liverpool have decided to make a U-turn and offer unwanted striker Samuel Eto’o a one year deal with the club.

It is understood that Eto’o underwent a medical in Paris on Friday and is hoping that he is able to travel to England today and finalise a move to Anfield.

Liverpool have decided to keep the Cameroon striker on stand-by for the moment as they see the player as back-up if their attempts to sign Mario Balotelli fail.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to talk to Balotlelli first before completing a ÂŁ16 million pound deal.

Eto’o is currently willing to move to Anfield ahead of the likes of QPR and Ajax.

Eto’o is a free agent after his contract with Chelsea expired and was keen to stay in the Premier League with a club in the Champions League. Everton boss Roberto Martinez also made an offer but Eto’o is desperate to join a club in the Champions League.

Balotelli is still Liverpool’s priority but the bizarre parallel deal for Eto’o highlights there are still concerns about the ex Manchester City player’s behaviour on and off the pitch.
