Mario Balotelli out – Mario Gomez in?

The Reds are considering using last season flop Mario Balotelli as part of a move for Fiorentina goalscorer Mario Gomez.

Reports in Italy from Mediaset believe the Merseyside club will be willing to add Mario Balotelli to a cash deal in order to bring in the former Bayern man.

Loan Deals Both Way?

It is thought that initially the swap will be just a loan move for both players.

Gomez moved from German giants Bayern Munich in 2013 and has not found the form in Fiorentina which made him such a highly sought after forward.

Liverpool Still want new Striker

However Brendan Rodgers is thought to have remained confident that he can bring the best out of the Serie A man and is still in the transfer market for another goal-getter.

Rodgers has already added Danny Ings to his squad after the striker left Burnley at the end of his contract, but with a trio of strikers set to leave Anfield, the manager wants to add a further forward.

Christian Benteke from Aston Villa has been linked, but Gomez is seen the cheaper option due to Villa wanting ÂŁ32.5m for the Belgium.

It is understood that both Fiorentina and Liverpool are happy for the deal to move through, with only an agreement between the players standing in the way at the moment.
