Liverpool are set to make a move for yet another Southampton star as they consider swooping for attacker Jay Rodriguez.
The Reds signed three of Saints’ biggest stars over the Summer as Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren all swapped St Marys for Anfield, but it doesn’t look like Brendan Rodgers is ready to stop there.
As well as the trio leaving for Liverpool, Southampton also lost two defenders, Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers, one to Manchester United and the other to Arsenal, and despite the excessive change in the first-team, The Saints are still third in the Premier League under Ronald Koeman.
However, Liverpool are reportedly ready to make yet another move for one of their players with Rodriguez wanted.
The Englishman hasn’t featured since April due to a serious knee injury, but he is set to return soon with a specialist set to see him next week to discuss his return, and that’s positive news for Liverpool, who are keen to sign him.
Rodriguez netted 17 times last season before his injury and is also wanted by former-boss, Mauricio Pochettino, at new-club, Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs and Liverpool are set to do battle for the striker in the Summer.
