Reds still in the market for a goalkeeper despite Simon Mignolet praise
Liverpool are eyeing up a shock deal for former-Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez despite Jurgen Klopp singing the praises of Simon Mignolet in the week.
Since Klopp‘s arrival earlier this season, Liverpool have been linked with making formal moves for a new goalkeeper, with two eyed from the Bundesliga and Jack Butland also on the radar from Stoke City.
However, when asked about Mignolet‘s future, Klopp continued to back the Belgian and admitted that he was one of the smartest players he’s worked with.
Liverpool Eye Backup
Despite the high praise, the Reds are still believed to be in the market for a shot-stopper in order to provide competition for Mignolet, and Lopez is now on Klopp’s radar.
Lopez was Jose Mourinho‘s number-one at Real Madrid before he left to join Serie A side AC Milan, but he’s recently lost his place in the Italian’s first-team due to the emergence of 16-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Lopez is seen as an experienced goalkeeper and someone who can provide legit competition to Mignolet’s number-one spot.
