Reds to sign another Southampton star?
Liverpool are taking a close look at Southampton defender Jose Fonte.
Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is a fan of the Portuguese centre-back, and could look to bring him to Anfield this summer.
Southampton Reunion
This would mean a reunion with fellow defender Dejan Lovren, who has struggled at times since making the same switch from the South Coast.
Forward Rickie Lambert has also had a torrid time for the Reds so far, and the potential signing of their former teammate may provide a welcome boost for the pair.
Saints’ Season
Fonte has shined at the back for the Saints in their impressive season, which has faltered in recent weeks.
From outside contenders for a Champions League spot, to fighting for a place in the Europa League, the season has been a good one nevertheless at St Mary‘s.
Losing Fonte would be another blow for the Saints fans, having seen a host of players leave last summer.
Interest Elsewhere
Manchester United are also thought to be keen on Fonte, but they are preoccupied with other targets higher up their wish list.
Fonte arrived from Crystal Palace in 2010 for around £1.2m, and only signed a new three-year deal in August.
