Liverpool handed huge boost ahead of Champions League clash
Liverpool have been handed an injury boost ahead of their Champions League trip to Sevilla on Tuesday, with midfielder Adam Lallana included in the squad for the first time this season.
The England international has not played yet this season after sustaining a thigh injury back in August, but is in line to make his long awaited return at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Lallana is a favourite of manager Jurgen Klopp, and will provide extra creativity for the Reds in midfield. He scored eight league goals last year and was a key player in their return to the Champions League.
Gareth Southgate also hailed the 29 year-old as England’s best player in a recent interview, and with the World Cup coming up next summer Lallana’s return is positive for the Three Lions.
However, it’s not all good news as fellow club and international teammate Nathaniel Clyne is set for another three months out still with a back problem.
Clyne also hasn’t played this season and suffered a recent setback having originally been expected to be out for a shorter period. However, replacement Joe Gomez has shone in his absence and could be an option for Southgate.
