Reds want to sign a competitive goalkeeper for Simon Mignolet

Liverpool are reportedly in talks with Leicester City regarding goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The Reds are believed to be in the market to sign a new shot-stopper in order to provide legit competition for current number-one, Simon Mignolet.

Adam Bogdan hasn’t impressed Jurgen Klopp during his cameo performances and the German is ready to bring in his own ‘keeper to provide competition for Mignolet.

Talks with Leicester

According to reports, Schmeichel could be that goalkeeper as talks between the two clubs have been held regarding a possible deal for the Dane.

However, with Leicester sitting top of the Premier League, it’s looking unlikely that they’ll be prepared to part ways with their number-one, and it’s also unlikely that Schmeichel will want to leave given their current position.

With Mignolet signing a new five-year deal earlier this month, it’s clear Klopp has plans for the Belgian in the future, but he is keen on landing another shot-stopper and could renew his interest in the summer should he fall short this month.

Kasper is the son of Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel.
