Liverpool are looking to sign Barcelona forward Pedro this summer, as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to add more depth to his attack.

The Reds have been heavily linked with Southampton’s Adam Lallana, though no deal is expected to be completed until after the World Cup. Rodgers is keen to add up to 5 players to his squad this summer, and has already turned his attention to strengthening other positions.

Pedro has been chosen as part of the Spain squad that will defend their World Cup in Brazil this summer, but hasn’t enjoyed the best of seasons at Barcelona in terms of starting games, and faces uncertainty about his future at the club after new manager Luis Enrique was signed. Enrique has revealed that he will be making changes at the club this summer after a trophyless campagin last season.

He said: ‘The players must know that you cannot let a year pass at Barca. If they are not at the level required then there will be changes.

‘We will reinforce the team in the best way possible, to be as competitive as possible. There is a market there – teams ask a lot of money for players. You must manage it all. We will reinforce, maybe in all lines of the team, to have the best players for the club and for me.

‘I do not want to talk too much about individuals. Good and important players will stay. We will look at everyone and then see what we do. We do not have to make decisions now. We have time.

Pedro would fit perfectly into Liverpool’s style of play, and is vertisile enough to play anywhere in the attacking line-up, making him the ideal signing for Rodgers.
