Liverpool are now back in the race to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, according to reports.
The Southampton center half has attracted interest from plenty of big clubs recently, with both Chelsea and Manchester City also being linked with the talented 25-year-old.
Manchester City and Chelsea as mentioned before have been strongly linked with van Dijk but it seems that Liverpool are ready to pitch in a bid for the Dutchman who was signed from Celtic for £13m in 2015.
Van Dijk is expected to be the subject of a number of bids at the end of the season and likely to go for more than £50m despite the insistence by Southampton that he is not for sale.
Liverpool will likely need to lodge a hefty bid for van Dijk to beat other contenders for his signature, and with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, and potentially other big European clubs interested, it will not be easy for Jurgen Klopp to tempt van Dijk to Anfield.
If Liverpool do pull off such a marquee signing, it will be a huge boost for their defensive line next season, where they will look to once again challenge for the Premier League title, having fallen short in recent years.
