Brendan Rodgers looks set to up his interest in Loic Remy as the Liverpool boss has made contact with QPR over agreeing a deal to take the French international to Anfield. Forward Remy enjured a succesful loan spell at Newcastle United last season were he scored 14 goals in 26 games for the Magpies.

Rodgers is looking for striking reinforcements due to Luis Suarez’s departure, other forwards Liverpool have been linked with are Jackson Martinez of Porto and Wilfried Bony of Swansea. The Reds have also been linked with a move for Toulouse right back Serge Aurier.

Rodgers will face competition though as Arsenal are interested in both Martinez and Aurier. Remy was also close to agreeing to join the Gunners however talks have stalled and Rodgers is confident he could get his man.

The Northern Irishman is hoping he can persuade Remy to choose Anfield and join summer recruits Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can.
