Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he hopes the club will remain inside the top-six of the Premier League until the January transfer window opens up.

The Reds made several big signings in the summer and even managed to keep hold of wantaway striker Luis Suarez, which was then followed up by three impressive 1-0 victories in the league that left them top of the tree.

However, a shock home defeat to Southampton was the followed up by a defeat to Manchester United in the Capital One Cup and things are starting to look a bit more worrying for the Anfield-side.

Despite signing several in the summer, Rodgers has revealed that he would like to spend more in January, but will access how his team are doing in the league before making any signings.

“Now we can only concentrate on the league up until Christmas,” he said.

“So we have to make sure we stay up in that top six in the league and keep fighting and hopefully we can reinforce in January.

“I think the players have made an excellent start. We were flat and subdued at the weekend (against Southampton) and we couldn’t get going – part of that was because of the players we had available.”
