Liverpool offered deal to sign Jermain Defoe

Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign former-Tottenham Hotspur star, Jermain Defoe, after his new club, Toronto FC, look to sell the Englishman.

The Englishman swapped Spurs for Toronto last year, but he is already being offered back to the Premier League, with Liverpool high on the list due to their lack of clinical finisher.

Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini are all struggling for goals at Anfield, and Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in a new forward during the January transfer window, and Defoe could be an option.

However, Toronto are asking for around ÂŁ6million for the striker, a potential stumbling block as Liverpool aren’t prepared to spend that much money on a 32-year-old.

The Reds could possibly do a deal with Toronto if it’s a loan option, however, the MLS side are only ready to listen to permanent offers.
