Klopp interested in forward
Liverpool are keeping an eye on the availability of Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, with Jurgen Klopp thought to be very interested in the player.
Liverpool are looking for more firepower up front to cover for the losses of Phillippe Coutinho with injury and Sadio Mane, who will be jetting off to the African Cup of Nations in two games time.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is one of the players Klopp has identified to bring in, but the endeavour may not be so straightforward, bearing in mind the current positions of the pair in the league table.
Arsenal sit 3 points behind 2nd placed Liverpool, with their pair still set to clash at Anfield before the end of the season, because of this, Arsenal are thought to be reluctant to any of their players join any of their rivals.
To further complicate things, the relationship between the two clubs has been hampered after the 2013 transfer saga concerning Luis Suarez, who wanted to join the Gunners but was not allowed to leave. Arsenal bid £40million+£1 to activate his release clause, but it turned out to not exist.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has scored six times in all competitions this season and be a relatively expensive acquisition, with a valuation in today’s market in the region of £20m-£25m.
