The Reds have lined the West Ham man up as a possible replacement for Phillipe Coutinho if he joins Barcelona
Liverpool have already got their eye on a potential replacement for Phillipe Coutinho in the form of Manuel Lanzini from West Ham.
The West Ham man has clearly impressed Jurgen Klopp’s men with his showings for the Hammers since joining the club back in 2016 and now they are ready to make a move.
However, the only way they would make a bid for the player is if they end up losing Phillipe Coutinho to Barcelona.
The former Inter Milan star has been attracting some serious interest from the Catalan giants, who are believed to be considering a huge bid to try and land the Brazilian.
Despite the fact the Reds have told Barca that the player is not for sale and will be going nowhere, they are still desperate to land him.
West Ham unwilling to sell
It has led to boss Jurgen Klopp looking for a backup plan in case Coutinho does decide to make the move to La Liga and it has led him to Lanzini, who he believes would be a suitable swap.
There is a stumbling block though and that is the fact that West Ham do not want to part ways with one of their star men. The player has become a key figure to the Hammers and they are eager to keep hold of him.
They’re even set to offer the player a new deal with the club in the hope of warding off any interest from Liverpool.
But, if Coutinho ends up leaving Anfield, then Lanzini may decide not to pen this new deal and to switch clubs and make the move to be his replacement at Liverpool.
