Reds in the market for new centre-midfielder

Liverpool are eyeing a potential bid for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The Reds are expected to be busy this Summer as Brendan Rodgers looks to overhaul his squad and make drastic changes to the side that looks set to finish fifth this season.

Liverpool Woes this Season

Liverpool were Premier League runners-up last season, but after losing Luis Suarez to FC Barcelona and having Daniel Sturridge injured for the majority of the season, Rodgers‘ side has collapsed from second to fifth.

Goals have been a major issue for Liverpool this term, with Rickie Lambert, Fabio Borini and Mario Balotelli all struggling to score goals, leaving Steven Gerrard as the club’s top goalscorer this season.

Gerrard Replacement

More worrying for Liverpool is that their influential skipper will be leaving this year in order to join MLS side LA Galaxy. Gerrard made his final farewell at Anfield on Saturday, but it ended in defeat as Crystal Palace secured a massive 3-1 win over the Merseyside club.

Now Rodgers has the tough task of finding someone to replace Gerrard in the heart of Liverpool’s midfield.

Potential Signings

James Milner from Manchester City has been strongly linked, with some reports claiming a contract has already been agreed, with the England international set to leave the Etihad Stadium on a free this Summer.

Other reports are claiming that Mateo Kovacic from Inter Milan could be an option, but it now looks like Vidal could be a feasible choice from Juve.

Vidal From Juventus?

Vidal has been an ever present in Juve’s midfield this season, but with fears that Liverpool could launch a Summer bid, The Old Lady could be prepared to sell if the offer is right.

It’s believed Liverpool will offer around ÂŁ14million for the Chilean, which could be accepted by the Champions League finalists.

Vidal certainly has the qualities to replace Gerrard at Anfield.
