Brendan Rodgers is apparently keen to strengthen his central midfield options, perhaps with a view to the fact that Steven Gerrard has been out injured and is clearly in the latter stages of his Anfield career.
The 26 year old Hammers star has a £3.5m release clause, which would represent something of a bargain buy even though the French born Senegal international hasn’t had the best of season’s thus far.
Though the likes of Jordan Henderson, Lucas Leiva, and perhaps to a lesser extent Joe Allen, have all performed wonderfully well this season there is certainly scope for alternative options to offer more strength in depth and clearly a move for Diame would be cost effective.
Diame had a solid first season at West Ham and has a good grounding of Premier League experience and would presumably jump at the chance of a move to a side with Champions League aspirations.
