Liverpool ready to make Michel Vorm bid

Liverpool are preparing to make a fresh Summer bid for Swansea City goalkeeper Michel Vorm as Brendan Rodgers eyes a backup stopper to compete with Simon Mignolet.

The Reds have already had a busy Summer, completing the signings of four players, and Rodgers is now keen to add to his defensive options, including a new goalkeeper with reports suggesting that Pepe Reina will be leaving the club permanently this year.

The Spaniard spent all of last season out on loan in Napoli and it’s believed that he will leave Anfield full-time this Summer, which will leave the club with just one recognised goalkeeper in Mignolet.

Vorm, who was signed for Swansea by Rodgers, has quickly become one of the Premier League’s best shot-stoppers, and after the Welsh side signed Lukasz Fabianski on a free, club chairman Huw Jenkins, confirmed that interest in Vorm was high.

The chairman admitted that inquiries have been made for the Dutch ‘keeper, but as of yet, no formal bids have been offered.
