FSG won’t sell the Kop!

Liverpool owners have confirmed they have rejected a proposed £800m takeover from Chinese investors.

A large consortium called ‘China Everbright‘, who are a state-backed group from the Far East, were very interested in investing into Liverpool Football club.

China Everbright were the ones that valued Liverpool at around £800million.

Everbright have been working with private equity firm called PCP Capital Partners to acquire a big share in the club.

However, chairman Tom Werner has stressed that Liverpool’s current owners – ‘Fenway Sports Group’ are not interested in any sale.

“We’ve said it before and I’d like to say it again: this club is not for sale,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“I’d say that from time to time somebody says they have made an offer to us but they are really saying that just for publicity.

“People throw offers to us which we don’t think are real. We haven’t had a discussion or a negotiation with anyone because this club is not for sale.”
