The 19-year-old striker has emerged as one of the most impressive youngsters at the World Cup this summer after he forced his way into Belgium’s starting line-up at the expense of Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku.

Strong and powerful with an eye for goal, Origi has caught Rodgers’ eye throughout the tournament and is now expected to arrive at Anfield as early as next week, with the Merseysiders hopeful they can conclude a deal quickly ahead of their rivals.

However, Origi is set to be loaned back to Lille in order to receive much needed game time as his development could be derailed if he spends a considerable amount of time on the bench at Anfield.

Having earned a place in the Champions League next season courtesy of their second place finish in the Champions League, Liverpool have shown that they are intent on challenging for silverware next season despite the loss of Suarez with a string of signings.

But, Rodgers has also kept one eye on the future, with Origi tipped to flourish into an outstanding player.
