Liverpool are being linked with Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin, as Brendan Rodgers looks for a solution to the Red’s ongoing goalkeeper troubles.
Simon Mignolet has struggled for consistency in goal this term and has come under intense scrutiny from the media for his poor performances. Despite Rodgers sticking with him thus far, there have now been signs he may look for an alternative with Perin a possible replacement for the Belgian.
The 22 year-old is only in his second full season as a regular for the Serie A side, after loans to Pescara and Pedova. But, the goalkeeper has made great strides in his development and his agent claims he could depart for England in the future.
“For Perin I can only imagine a future abroad. Genoa wants €15m.
“I would like him to remain in Italy, but only clubs from abroad can afford a goalkeeper that €20m.
“England? It’s a possibility.”
A move may be likely in the summer, but Liverpool would have to spend another £15 million when it seems it is their front line that is coming up short and not Mignolet’s errors in goal that are costing the side.
