After failing to make a mark at Bayern since joining in 2013, Mario Götze has to weigh his options up, and could potentially join his old manager Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool this summer.
The German international midfielder, who burst onto the scene under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, believes that his former boss can help him reignite a career that has stalled at Bayern Munich.
Despite the fact that Pep Guardiola is to leave the German Giants this summer, Gotze has seen himself falling out of favour at Bayern Munich, and even though Carlo Ancelotti is taking over in the summer, the 23 year old still is trying to force a move away from the Allianz.
The young German midfielder put himself on the world stage after scoring in the World Cup final, sealing the cup win for Germany. He has enjoyed his best football under Jurgen Klopp, and hopes to get himself into good form once again.
Gotze and Klopp still in contact:
“We are texting now and again,” Götze told German television station ZDF recently. “He was my coach at Borussia Dortmund, but there is nothing special.” However, when asked whether they have discussed the possibility of him joining Liverpool in the future, he simply replied: “No.”
Gotze is heading towards the final 12 months of his contract and is not prepared to sign an extension.
Bayern will want to retain most of the £30million they paid for the 23-year-old back in 2013.
