Liverpool are in pole position to beat Arsenal to the signing of Real Madrid midfielder, Asier Illarramendi.
The 24-year-old is growing unhappy in Spain after falling down the pecking order under Carlo Ancelotti, and has reportedly been told he can leave in the Summer if offers come in.
The holding-midfielder has been monitored by both Arsenal and Liverpool, but it looks like The Reds are favourite to sign the Spaniard after sources claim he would prefer a move to Anfield over the Emirates Stadium.
Illarramendi has already snubbed a move to Athletic Bilbao, who offered £17.5million to sign him in January, in the hope that one of the Premier League sides will make a formal bid in the Summer transfer window.
