Liverpool to hijack Chelsea’s Doumbia move

After deciding not to recall Divock Origi from his loan, Liverpool will try instead to sign Seydou Doumbia. The striker is also wanted by Chelsea.

Liverpool have decided not to bring Origi back to Anfield early, despite the club’s goalscoring and striking problems. Instead, they’ll be making a January move for Doumbia. The player has himself admitted that there is interest from England for him – which could be the Reds or the Blues – and that he could be prepared to move.

Brendan Rodgers would only be looking to use the CSKA Moscow man in the short-term because of his current attacking problems, with Daniel Sturridge out injured, while Chelsea would more than likely use him as back up for Costa and/or Loic Remy.
