Brendan Rodgers set to tell Brazilian he can leave

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is set to tell Lucas Leiva that he can leave the club at the end of the season.

The Brazilian midfielder has struggled with injuries throughout his time at Anfield, but according to fresh reports, his career in Merseyside could be all-but over as Rodgers prepares a squad overhaul.

Lucas Out, Milner In

According to numerous stories, Liverpool are expected to sell at least nine players from this season’s first-team after the club failed to win a trophy and failed to finish in the top-four.

With exits likely, new faces are also likely with Rodgers set to undergo a rebuilding task at Anfield.

It’s reported this morning that the manager is set to tell Lucas that he can find a new club for the new season as he prepares to bring in James Milner from Manchester City.

It’s looking more and more likely that The Reds will be signing the Manchester City midfielder on a free transfer once his contract expires at the Etihad Stadium.

Milner can play anywhere across the midfield, as well as right-back and upfront if necessary.

Inter Milan Keen

The 28-year-0ld centre-midfielder has been previously linked with a move away, with Serie A side Inter Milan keen on his services, but up until now, Rodgers has refused to lose the player.

Inter made an approach in January, but were told no as it was halfway through the season. However, Liverpool’s stance has now changed and a deal could be arranged over the Summer.

Gerrard Out, Potential Replacements

With Steven Gerrard also leaving, it means Rodgers may look at signing another midfielder with Mateo Kovacic and Arturo Vidal both linked from Inter and Juventus respectively.
