Winger has failed to impress at the Bernabeu
Liverpool are lining up a £16million offer for Real Madrid starlet Denis Cheryshev, with the winger being Brendan Rodgers’ top transfer target this summer.
The Madrid youngster, who has spent the season on loan at Villarreal in Spain, is said to be moving away from the Bernabeu to Anfield this summer to replace Reds winger Raheem Sterling.
Rodgers was told that his job as the manager of Liverpool Football Club was safe after a two hour end-of-season discussion with the Reds board yesterday.
Struggles in Spain
Newspapers in Spain suggest that the Merseyside club are willing to spend up to £16million for the highly rated 24-year-old.
The Russia international has not featured in a first-team game for the Spanish giants and it is unknown that new manager Rafael Benitez wants to keep him at the club.
Reports from Spain suggest that if Madrid were to let the Russian leave for Liverpool, they would put a buy-back clause into Cheryshev’s deal.
