Liverpool told to increase £16m bid for Perrin

Genoa have told Liverpool that they will need to increase their £16m offer if they want to sign Mattia Perin. The goalkeeper is being hailed as ‘the new Gianluigi Buffon’ after impressing in Serie A and breaking into the Italian international side at just 21 years old.

AC Milan and Bayern Munich have also shown an interest in the youngster in recent weeks. Liverpool have already spoken to Genoa about a potential January move for Perrin and they have offered £16m in advance. However, it looks like the Italian side aren’t tempted by the bid.

Genoa have reportedly turned down the Reds’ bid, claiming they have no intention of selling him in the winter market. They have also said that if Brendan Rodgers wanted to sign the player next summer instead, they would have to increase their offer substantially.

Now it’s up to the Liverpool boss to decide whether to purusue other targets in January or to wait until summer and try and get his man with a bigger bid.
