Liverpool have almost given up on agreeing a deal for Southampton winger Adam Lallana. As an alternative, manager Brendan Rodgers has turned his attentions to Benifca ace Lazar Markovic. Lallana’s transfer saga has been going on for far too long now and Brendan Rodgers doesn’t want to lose out on Lazar Markovic.

The Serbian winger had been Liverpool’s main transfer target at the conclusion of last season but Benfica then labelled a £30 million price tag on him, which compelled Rodger’s to look elsewhere. However, it has been hinted that the Portuguese giants may accept an offer at around £25 million.

The signings of Rickie Lambert and Emre Can has shown that Rodgers’ wants all the transfer business done and dusted early. It is understood that Rodger’s wants a player who already has made his mark in the Premier League; however the Liverpool manager may be forced to gamble.
