Liverpool will have to wait for new potential arrival
Liverpool fans will have to wait for the news of seeing Nabi Keita in action for their club, after Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the German midfielder’s potential switch might take place in the summer, but not January.
There were talks that Keita’s supposed arrival will be brought forward from June-July to January, but Klopp clarified that the deal won’t go through this early.
“There is nothing else to say about that. We really don’t think about it because of all the things Leipzig have said. They said they do not have to sell any player. Why should they do something like that [allow him moving in January]? So no, we don’t think about it.”
When asked if he had communicated with Keita, Klopp said: “No. He is a player of Leipzig.”
Liverpool have been desperate to catch hold of Keita, who has been Klopp’s No.1 target for a while. The club was even ready to talk a deal a year in advance to acquire his services, but Leipzig continued to dodge them by saying that they are not letting him go anywhere.
