Liverpool WON’T be cutting short Origi loan

Divock Origi will not be returning to Liverpool in the January transfer window, the Merseyside club have confirmed.

The Reds snapped up the forward after an impressive World Cup with Belgium, however as part of the £10 million deal that saw Origi sign with Brendan Rodgers’ side, he was sent back on loan to Lille for the 2014/15 season.

Despite the season-long loan deal, recent reports have stated that the deal may be cut short so he could return to his parent club to aid their efforts in the second half of the season.

The 19 year-old made his name in Brazil in the summer and was signed by Rodgers as they tried to fill the void left by the sale of Luis Suarez, and with the club’s recent struggles in front of goal with neither Rickie Lambert nor Mario Balotelli impressing up front, many considered the Belgian to be the perfect alternative.

However, the club have dismissed any rumours by stating that he will remain in France with Lille until the end of the season.
