Arsene Wenger looks ready to start filling the holes within the Arsenal squad and it seems as though Wenger will not wait until summer to start. Wenger was speaking with the press and has said this;
“There is a need there [to buy], but the right opportunity has to come up.
“To buy [just for the sake] to buy is not what we want to do, but if the right opportunity comes up, we will do it.
“If you look at the number of games some players played and the injuries we have with [Jack] Wilshere, [Aaron] Ramsey and [Mikel] Arteta, we’re a bit short at the moment in midfield.”
Rumours circulating at the moment are that Wenger is also looking for some defensive cover and is looking at 29 year old defender Loic Perrin.
Saint Etienne captain has told the press that Arsenal have contacted him personally over a possible switch to the Emirates, but have not yet spoken with Saint-Etienne.
Perrin, the captain of Saint-Etienne was speaking after his team’s game against Nice on Sunday and when asked about the possible move to Arsenal had this to say;
‘I have been contacted personally. Arsenal is interested, but for now there is still no contact with Saint-Etienne.’
Chrisophe Galtier, manager of Saint-Etienne has also spoken about the switch and said;
‘Loic (Perrin) is a special case that I will look after personally. I’m not saying the door is open but if a surprising offer is made we would have to listen to Loic and his wishes.’
