London or Madrid?…..Reus to Decide

Having missed the World Cup through injury, you could forgive Marco Reus for feeling a little low, even bitter. Watching his team-mates lift the most coveted trophy in world sport from the treatment table could have damaged the German winger’s desire and resolve. It appears not.

With the prospect of not featuring in the World Cup finals until he is the ripe old age of 29, the gifted forward is looking for a move to one of Europe’s elite clubs.

A clause in his current contract denotes that he can move to a rival team for less than ÂŁ20million next summer, meaning his current employers, Borussia Dortmund may have to act in January. They should be able to recoup ÂŁ30million for the in-demand international star.

Arsenal, Liverpool, and both sides of Manchester have all been tipped for Reus’s signature, but it now looks likely to be a two-horse race. Of course Real Madrid will be an attractive option, and who wouldn’t want to play with the Ronaldo’s of the world? However, Chelsea may have more weight in the salary department, and could possibly offer a deal worth around ÂŁ7.8million a year for the German.

You would have to assume, that with that sort of deal on the table, Reus will be returning his Spanish translation books to Amazon in january, ticking the box that says ‘unwanted Christmas present’.

West London awaits.
