Long term Manchester United target set to stay put amid interest
Manchester United target Ivan Perisic is set to stay at Inter Milan in January despite continued interest from the Premier League club, that’s according to club director Piero Ausilio.
The Croatian international has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last few transfer windows, but a move has never materialised.
Ausilio came out this week to insist that Perisic is happy at the San Siro and won’t be joining Jose Mourinho’s team, with Inter looking to return to the Champions League after a six year absence.
“We know how important [Perisic] is”, Ausilio told Premium Sport. “He is happy to stay at Inter.”
“He is a great pro, he takes care of every small detail and I think one can see it.” he continued. “Ivan is a top player to me.”
Inter made a big effort to keep Perisic at the club in the summer and it looks like he will be in Milan for a while yet still. United were reportedly unwilling to meet there ÂŁ60million valuation.
The 28 year-old signed a new five-year contract with the Nerazzurri back in September.
United will most likely now turn their attention to new targets for the January transfer window. Read our list of five players they may look to sign in 2018 here!
