The United manager has called the winter schedule “evil”
The lack of a winter break has incensed Van Gaal.
For many football fans the winter period is the best of the year with games coming fick and fast. For the managers the period is one of the toughest of the year as results start to count and squad injuries and fitness is questioned.
Van Gaal stated that reason the national team don’t do well in tournaments is due to the players being “exhausted”. The United boss added “I think you should change.”
This isn’t the first time Premier League managers has criticised the festive period and many believe it’s a major factor in poor Champions League campaigns as well.
