Luis Suarez praised Atletico Madrid’s team spirit in dramatic late win over Osasuna.
Diego Simeone’s men were on the brink of losing their advantage at the top of La Liga.
It was in the final eight minutes of the game that Atletico managed a comeback. Renan Lodi struck the equaliser and then Suarez converted one of his many chances to bring home all three crucial points on the night.
“These are moments of happiness, we did not deserve to suffer as much as we suffered,” he told Movistar.
“We missed many chances – me in particular. But to win the league you have to suffer, as today showed. I knew we would suffer here, but not that much.
“The effort and sacrifice of the team was great, with many people working so that the club can achieve its objectives. Now we have a chance to rest and prepare for the next game.”
Atletico now sit two points above Real Madrid who also won over Atheltic Bilbao. Now, the race for the title will go down to the final game. The Colchoneros still havet go up against Valladolid and Real will face Villarreal.
Right now, Suarez’s €6m move to Atletico seems like a real blow for Barcelona.
