The Belgian believes he is currently one of the best strikers after bagging 25 goals for Everton last season

Romelu Lukaku has claimed he is one of the best strikers in the world at the moment.

The striker has been quick to claim he is one of the best after a good goalscoring season for himself personally, which has led to interest from other Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Man United.

He said: “I’m among the best. That’s good. Personally I am happy.

“I did expect to produce a season of this calibre.”

Place in the Belgium squad

The 23-year old had arguably the best season of his career so far with Everton last season, as he banged in 25 goals for the club in all competitions. However, it wasn’t enough to help his side to a high finish in the table, as the Toffees finished in 11th place.

It led to the sacking of manager Roberto Martinez but ultimately, Lukaku is happy with his personal achievements last year and it is those performances that have landed him a place in Belgium’s Euro squad and it has also caught the eye of United and Chelsea who are both now considering summer bids for the striker.

Lukaku of course used to play for the Blues but didn’t have the greatest of times at Stamford Bridge. He struggled for gametime and when he did play, he didn’t find the back of the net as regularly as he does now. After loan spells at West Brom and Everton (where he is now based permanently) he has now certainly shown that he is capable of scoring regularly though.
