Luke Shaw is set to earn his first England call up as Gareth Southgate is preparing to name the squad for the UEFA Nations League on Thursday. The Manchester United defender could replace Ashley Young in the Three Lions squad.

Shaw has been one of the shining lights for Manchester United this season which otherwise has been a disastrous campaign for the Red Devils. Shaw has started all three matches so far as Jose Mourinho has preferred the former Southampton left back over Young who was a key part of England’s World Cup squad.

Southgate had a much closer look at Shaw as he was in the stands as Tottenham Hotspur humbled United 3-0 in the Premier League on Monday. The Three Lions gaffer might have taken a few notes and Shaw could be named in the England squad.

Alongside Shaw a number of other new faces are set to be introduced. Among them are Phil Foden and Jaden Sancho who were a pivotal part of England’s U-17 World Cup winning squad. Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell and Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand also could find themselves in the squad.

Shaw’s resurgence may help him in resurrecting his international career. The talented left back is still has a lot to offer and needs to continue his form on the international stage too.
